CAIRO - 20 July 2017: The Parliamentary Committee of Arab Affairs released a statement on Thursday calling the Arab League to hold an emergency session at ministerial level to discuss the Israeli escalation measures.

The committee along with a number of parliamentarians refuted the Arab League reaction to violations made by Israeli forces against Al-Quds city, especially in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The critics were stirred after the Arab League has released a statement on Wednesday, five days after the incident of preventing Muslimss from performing Friday prayers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In its statement on Wednesday, the Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit denounced the Israeli violence and measures against Palestinians of Al-Quds city and urged the Israeli authorities to immediately stop all these practices and show respect to the sanctity of the mosque.

Similarly Tarek Radwan, the deputy of foreign affairs committee, asserted his rejection for the Arab League’s stance saying that it was expected to be no more than denunciation and condemnation statement.

On Friday, the Israeli forces announced that Friday prayers for Muslims would not be held at Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevented the Grand Mufti from entering the Mosque from multiple entrances. This occurred after three Palestinian gunmen opened fire and shot dead two Israeli policemen.

The decision against Al-Aqsa Mosque is seen by Arab and International community as a crime and flagrant aggression against holy places as well as against the Palestinians' rights and freedom to practice their religious rites, the Jeddah-based organization said in a Saturday statement.
