CAIRO – 3 November 2023: A total of 3,648 Palestinian children were killed by Israeli ongoing bombing in the Gaza Strip, and 6,300 others were injured while 1,100 children are missing or still under the rubble of residential houses bombed by Israel.

The more heavily Israeli shelling, the more lives of civilians, with the majority of children, being claimed in this besieged enclave, which has 1.65 million children (more than 50 percent of Palestinians).

“Gaza has become a graveyard for thousands of children. It’s a living hell for everyone else,” said UNICEF Spokesperson James Elder in a press conference.

Violating the International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Conventions, Israel has targeted civilians, particularly children since the outbreak of the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis on October 7.

Scenes of targeting children are very horrific; videos showing parents collecting their children’s remains from the ground at the Gaza Baptist Hospital, which was shelled by Israel on Oct. 17, went viral on social media. Other children were forced to undergo surgeries without anesthesia due to the shortage of medicines and medical supplies all over the hospitals since Israel imposed a complete siege on the strip. Also, children who were forced with families to move from the north of the strip of the south couldn’t survive the Israeli shelling; bodies of Palestinians, including children, were found on Al Rashid Street in Gaza on Friday.

The besieged strip has no access to water after Israel cut off water, electricity, food, and fuel from Gaza, which constitutes another torture and genocide being committed against children.

“The more than one million children of Gaza also have a water crisis.  Gaza’s water production capacity is a mere 5 percent of its usual daily output.  Child deaths – particularly infants - to dehydration are a growing threat,” Elder added in the press conference on Oct. 30.

On Oct. 28, Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Catherine Russell, expressed the organization's concern about the terror that one million children are experiencing under the bombardment in Gaza as a result of the continuous bombing carried out by the Israeli occupation forces.

Continuing for nearly a month, the Israeli war in Gaza has killed more than 9,000 Palestinians and injured over 23,500 more people.

Also, around 1.4 million people have been displaced due to the Israeli air strikes, with Israel ordering residents to head to southern Gaza, which shares a border with Egypt.
