CAIRO – 29 October 2023: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohamed Shtayyeh told Al Arabiyah on Saturday that the Palestinian Authority (PA) had been coordinating with Egypt and Qatar to broker a captive exchange between Hamas and Israel.
Israeli officials stated Saturday that Hamas held 229 Israeli and dual national hostages. Of those, four were released, including two Israeli-American women.
During Egyptian-Qatari mediation negotiates, Israel agreed to a one-day truce on the condition that it should be under international supervision, sources said, Friday. The well-informed sources said that Egypt and Qatar mediated negotiations regarding Israeli captives held by Hamas.
Hamas also was reported to request a truce for five days in exchange for less than 100 captives held by the group as well as other factions.
