CAIRO - 26 October 2023: The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Khairat Umarov, announced on Thursday that his country is cooperating with the Egyptian government in evacuating its nationals from the Gaza Strip.

The official Kazinform news agency quoted Umarov as saying on the sidelines of the Senate meeting in Astana today: “The situation is very complex. Now only humanitarian goods have begun to arrive, which are being distributed to the population. But this is still not enough. We are working with the Egyptian government and with "All the potential people who could solve these issues."

He added that information is regularly updated about the number of Kazakh citizens residing in the Gaza Strip, saying: “I think it is too early to talk about these numbers today. As soon as the corridor is opened, our citizens will be evacuated from there.”

The official spokesman for the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, Aybek Smadyarov, had said earlier that there are more than 100 Kazakh citizens in the Gaza Strip now.
