CAIRO - 24 October 2023: In a heartbreaking update on the situation in Gaza, the death toll resulting from Israel's ongoing offensive has tragically risen to over 5,300 Palestinians, as reported by the Cairo News Channel, citing Palestinian television.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health had previously announced that the number of martyrs from the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza overnight had reached 140. Palestinian sources in the region revealed that Israeli warplanes had demolished a residential building in Rafah, resulting in the tragic loss of 48 lives, with dozens more wounded.

Additional reports from the Gaza Strip indicate that Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building in the Tal al-Sultan area of Rafah, leading to casualties among civilians.

Further airstrikes hit a populated house in the town of Beit Lahia, north of Gaza, resulting in casualties among civilians who were transported to the Indonesian Hospital in the town.

Israeli military aircraft also struck a residential area known as "Al-Faluja" in the northern part of Gaza, causing more casualties and injuries.

The city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip was not spared as Israeli aircraft targeted a residential house, causing multiple injuries that were transported to Nasser Hospital in the city. Another house in Khan Yunis was also hit, resulting in casualties.

The grim escalation of casualties highlights the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict on the civilian population, including women and children, in Gaza. International calls for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian intervention continue to mount as the crisis unfolds.
