CAIRO – 23 October 2023: US President Joe Biden affirmed that there will be a continued a flow of critical aid to Palestinians in need in Gaza, US President Joe Biden said on Monday.
He made the remarks following the delivery of the first two convoys of humanitarian aid to Gaza over the past two days.
A third aid convoy reportedly entered the Rafah border crossing from the Egyptian side toward Gaza today.
The second aid convoy arrived in Gaza yesterday, comprising around 14 trucks carrying food and medical supplies, while the first 20 trucks carrying humanitarian aid arrived on Saturday.
Al-Qahera News correspondent said yesterday there are 170 aid trucks in front of the crossing and that they are ready to enter Gaza at any time.
Egypt has received aid from Jordan, Turkey, UAE and Tunisia as well as the World Health Organization (WHO). Also, North Sinai Governor Mohamed Shosha stated last week that aid provided by Egyptian NGOs and entities had totaled 3,000 tons.
UN officials have stressed that Gaza requires a minimum of 100 trucks per day to meet the urgent needs of around 2.3 million residents in the strip.
The aid delivery to Gaza can mean the start of evacuation of third-country nationals from the strip. Informed sources affirmed earlier this month that Egyptian authorities have refused the evacuation of foreign residents from Gaza except as part of an aid delivery agreement.
