CAIRO – 19 October 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and King Abdullah of Jordan warned of the serious impact of the Israeli collective punishment policies in Gaza on regional security.
In a meeting in Egypt, Sisi and King Abdullah discussed the ongoing military escalation in Gaza, which led to the deterioration of the security and humanitarian conditions in the strip and the death and injury of thousands of victims.
In this regard, the two leaders reiterated their condemnation of the bombing of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital and all acts of targeting civilians.
They affirmed the need for the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing in a sustainable way.
They warned against the collective punishment policies imposed in Gaza, including the siege, starvation and displacement of the Palestinian people to Egypt or Jordan.
They reviewed the efforts made by both countries to push for de-escalation.
They affirmed that the achievement of true and sustainable stability in the region depends on the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate rights in having an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the international legitimacy references.
This would enable the peoples of the region to enjoy peace, security and prosperity, Sisi and King Abdullah affirmed.
Since the start of the conflict early in October, Egypt and Jordan have reiterated rejection of Israeli plans to forcibly displace Palestinians toward their countries, warning that this will liquidate the Palestinian cause.
On Wednesday, Sisi stressed Egypt's unwavering support to the Palestinian people and rejection of Israeli plans to displace Gazans to Sinai.
Sisi said millions of Egyptian people are ready to protest any plans to displace the Palestinian people from Gaza.
Sisi said in case Israel has the notion to displace the Palestinians in Gaza until the end of military operations against the armed factions, then Israel can host them in Negev Desert.
