CAIRO – 17 October 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Tuesday phone calls from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida discussing the ongoing military escalation in Gaza Strip.
Both President Sisi and the prime minister of Spain, which is holding the presidency of the European Union Council in the second half of 2023, expressed concern over the deterioration of the security and humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
In that framework, the president and the two prime ministers stressed the necessity of concerting international efforts to encourage the warring parties to accomplish pacification in order to prevent more human losses among civilians, and the extension of security repercussions to the entire region.
The president also stipulated that the international community must push towards the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza Strip. He also underscored that it should tackle the root causes of the escalation by accomplishing a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian Cause.
