CAIRO – 16 October 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Sunday phone calls from Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to confer over the ongoing Hamas-Israeli military confrontations in Gaza Strip.
In the call with the Norwegian prime minister, President Sisi presented Egyptian communications with different parties to contain the situation and inhibit its worsening, underscoring that regional security and stability had been subject to increasing threats.
The two chiefs of state stressed the salience of diligent work to achieve de-escalation, protect civilians, prevent their targeting, and delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip. They also stipulated the necessity of accomplishing a fair and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian Cause in alignment with related international resolutions.
In the call with the Greek prime minister, the two leaders agreed that regional and international efforts might prioritize de-escalation in order to avoid a further complication of the situation.
Also, President Sisi displayed Egypt's efforts on that front, as well as in the direction of reviving the peace process and achieving the two-state solution.
