President Sisi underlines importance of coordinating regional, int'l efforts to end Palestinian-Israeli escalation

CAIRO – 11 October 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi received a phone call on Wednesday from the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The call focused on consultations regarding the military escalation between the Palestinians and Israelis.

President al Sisi and the president of the European Commission reviewed intensified efforts to contain the situation, in light of the increasing pace of violence and military operations.

The President stressed the importance of coordinating efforts of regional and international parties to urge an immediate halt to the escalation, as it is the priority at the present time to stop the bloodshed of civilians on both sides and to avert the Palestinian people further humanitarian suffering. This is in addition to the importance of facilitating the arrival of humanitarian aid.

The call also touched on cooperation between Egypt and the European Union, and ways to continue strengthening and developing it across various sectors, in light of the close and distinguished relations between the two sides.
