Egyptian official warns of mass exodus of Palestinians from Gaza to Sinai

CAIRO – 9 October 2023: A senior Egyptian official warned against pushing defenseless Palestinians towards the Egyptian border, where they take refuge after fleeing Israeli ongoing shelling

The source added in comments to the Cairo News Channel that some parties call for a mass exodus of the Palestinians from Gaza towards Egypt’s Sinai.

“Since the deterioration of the situation in the occupied territories, Egypt has not spared time and has intensified its contacts with all active parties of the international community to stop the escalation and prevent the bloodshed of the Palestinian people,” the source said.

The sources confirmed that Cairo's vision was farsighted when it warned of the seriousness of the situation in the occupied territories and its repercussions on the principles of the Palestinian cause.

He warned against the danger of displacement calls, saying that Egyptian sovereignty is untouchable, holding the Israeli occupation authority responsible for finding humanitarian corridors to help the people of Gaza.

Egypt has warned several times of the serious dangers of the ongoing Israeli escalation against the Palestinians when Israeli forces stormed and attacked many parts of the occupied lands in Jenin of the West Bank.

Cairo also warned against fueling the tension and exacerbating of the suffering of the Palestinian people, saying that these Israeli violations could undermine the efforts made by Egypt and regional and international partners to de-escalate tension in the occupied territories.
