CAIRO – 2 October 2023: Serval political parties have welcomed President Abdel Fattah al Sisi announcement on Monday running for a new presidential term.
"As I have heeded the call of the Egyptians before, today, I answer their call again. I have decided to nominate myself to complete the dream in a new presidential term. I promise you, God willing, it will be a continuation of our joint efforts for the benefit of Egypt and its people,” President Sisi said at the closing session of a three-day conference “Story of A Homeland.”
The ‘Free Egyptians Party’ headed by Essam Khaleel welcomed in a statement, Sisi’s announcement, praising his speech in which he stressed the necessity of completing the dream and promised that this period would be an extension of the quest of Egypt and its people.
The Free Egyptians Party expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to the President, for responding ‘again’ to the demands of the masses.
In another statement, the ‘Homeland Defenders Party’ founded and headed by Galal Haridy has welcomed Sisi’s announcement.
The party asserted that President Sisi’s candidacy is a ‘message of reassurance to millions of Egyptians, to complete the development and construction process that began in the country since he assumed his duties.’
The statement also noted that President Sisi’s candidacy is a strong indication of continued achievements in all fields and in all governorates across the country.
The National Progressive Unionist Party known as [el-Tagammu] has announced renewing confidence in President Sisi, and announced its support for him in the presidential election battle.
El-Ghad Party headed by Moussa Mustafa Moussa, extended deep greetings and appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for accepting to bear responsibility again in these difficult circumstances, and for agreeing to run for a new and term for presidency.
El-Ghad Party appreciated the president’s decision to accept the candidacy and considered it a historic decision, a decision that confirms the president’s great patriotism and his extreme tolerance for the sake of his country.
Moussa added that the president's decision greatly disappointed the nation's enemies,’ and we must all support and participate strongly in the upcoming elections in support of our choice and in confirmation of our confidence in our leader.’
The Conference Party welcomed President Sisi’s decision, stressing that it will make use of its headquarters and capabilities for the president’s electoral campaign.
‘Egypt – October” Party praised President Sisi announcement. Jihan Madih, head of the party said in a statement that the president’s announcement confirms that he is keen to complete what he started by rebuilding the Egyptian state and ridding it of the chaos and terrorism that it witnessed 10 years ago.
Madih added, in her statement, that President Sisi is ‘the man of the coming phase’.
Other parties also welcomed president Sisi announcement including: Al-Nour Party, Nation's Future Party, Union Party, and the Democratic Generation Party.
In its statement, Al-Nour Party said that it has held a number of consultative meetings with the General Secretariat and the governorate secretariats, which ended with a voting session for the supreme body to decide on the candidate that the party will support in the 2024 elections.
According to the party’s statement, the discussions resulted in a firm conviction among the party’s cadres about the necessity of having a leadership capable of managing the various state institutions, and leading them to cooperate with the magnitude of the risks and challenges facing Egypt and the entire region.
“Therefore, the Nour Party announces its support for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and urges its members and all Egyptians to participate in the elections,” the statement read.
President Abdel Fattah Sisi announced, on Monday, his nomination for the Egyptian 2024 presidential election due to convene on December 10, 11, 12.
President Sisi also called upon all Egyptians to participate in the presidential elections and choose the one who is suitable if even he were not elected.
The President said that what he did with the state’s institutions is for the sake of the homeland, adding that he has exerted efforts and kept his promise as much as he could.
“We, the Egyptians, have achieved a historic epic, as we have surmounted despair and disappointment, and reclaimed our beloved Egypt from the clutches of the group of darkness and treachery,” he said in an indication to the banned group of the Muslim Brotherhood.
“We have encountered heinous terrorism that sought to undermine our resolve; and our good land was watered with the blood of the righteous martyrs, who were from the most virtuous sons of Egypt,” President Sisi said.
He added that the will of the Egyptians is the main drive and fundamental incentive to complete building the country.
“We renew our pledge, together, to work toward completing our dreams for our beloved Egypt and precious homeland, which was watered with the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of all Egyptians; a great and powerful homeland established on the foundations of social justice, human dignity, and a state of institutions that secures for its citizens a decent life. For the sake of our dreams, we will work together to achieve this end,” President Sisi said.
