Judge Mahmoud Fawzi appointed as head of Sisi’s presidential election campaign

CAIRO – 2 October 2023: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi appointed Mahmoud Fawzi as head of Sisi’s electoral campaign and its legal advisor in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections, President Sisi announced on his official Facebook account.

Before being appointed as the head of Sisi’s presidential election campaign, Judge Fawzi resigned on Monday morning from his position as the Deputy Head of the State’s Council, where he assumed several posts over 22 years, according to Fawzi's official Facebook page on Monday. Judge Fawzi also presides the Technical Secretariat in the National Dialogue.

He also had assumed the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation.

Fawzy commented on his assignment as the head of Sisi's election campaign, describing it as a “critical” mission.

In his first comments following the decision, Fawzy said he has received the news with “great appreciation and pride.”

“I pray to Allah for success in carrying out this critical assignment and I thank the president for this valuable trust," Fawzy stated.

He emphasized the “immense sacrifices” introduced by President Sisi since 2014 and his sincere efforts as well as the real and comprehensive development witnessed by the country in various sectors.

In a statement, the Council for Media Regulation extended thanks and appreciation to Judge Mahmoud Fawzi, and praised the great and sincere efforts he made during his work in the Council.

President of the Council Karam Jabr said that Judge Fawzi has high morals, extensive legal experience, and the ability to manage difficult files and complete them efficiently.

“He was a gifted hand for the Council in its work, and I wished him success in his next mission,” Jabr said.

President Abdel Fattah Sisi announced, on Monday, his nomination for the Egyptian 2024 presidential election due to convene on December 10, 11, 12.

"As I have heeded the call of the Egyptians before, today, I answer their call again. I have decided to nominate myself to complete the dream in a new presidential term. I promise you, God willing, it will be a continuation of our joint efforts for the benefit of Egypt and its people,” President Sisi said at the closing session of a three-day conference “Story of A Homeland.”
