CAIRO - 1 October 2023: The Story of a Homeland: Between Vision and Achievement Conference resumed its activities on Sunday, which marks its second day, at the Al-Massa Hotel in the New Capital, under the patronage and in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as well as a large number of representatives of the Egyptian society with its various sectors.
The three-day conference, which kicked off on Saturday, comprises a number of round circles and plenary sessions to thoroughly discuss the achievements and projects implemented over the past 9 years, as well as the challenges facing the country.
The first day's activities discussed the economic aspect of the projects implemented by the ministries of finance, planning, international cooperation, and industry and trade in various sectors.
Coincidentally, the Egyptian Cabinet issued a 307-page book titled “Story of A Homeland,” documenting these achievements that aim to build a modern state through launching national megaprojects that provide job opportunities for millions of youths.
Commenting on economic reviews presented by the Egyptian ministers of international cooperation, and industry and trade, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said the country works on filling the gap between revenues and expenses by supporting the industrial sector. He added that the Egyptian state has prepared the infrastructure for increased investment opportunities, noting that supporting the industrial sector and local products reduces the pressuring demand for dollars.
“Egypt is working to provide incentives to encourage the success of investors. The Egyptian state provides huge financial facilitations to investors such as tax exemption and support for export programs,” the president confirmed.
“We need to exert more efforts to encourage Egyptian and foreign investors to increase the volume of investment in a number of sectors,” he continued.
In the remarks he gave on the conference's first day, President El-Sisi also stressed that nations cannot move forward without security and stability. “A nation cannot move forward without stability and security … Whoever says otherwise is either ignorant or foolish."
The president said the period of turbulence between the January 25 Revolution in 2011 and the June 30 Revolution in 2013 “depleted” the state.
El-Sisi has not officially announced plans to run for reelection to date. However, tens of political parties and unions have announced support to his potential candidacy, including the parliamentary majority party Mostaqbal Watan.
“This is what we have achieved and you have an opportunity for change in the coming elections,” El-Sisi said.
