Egypt contemplates expansion of economic cooperation with Ireland: FM

CAIRO – 19 September 2023: In a meeting with Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense Michael Martin, Foreign Minister Sameh Shokry stipulated the necessity of expanding the economic part in bilateral ties, highlighting opportunities in the sectors of renewable energy and communications.

The two ministers met Monday on the sidelines of UNGA to confer over diversifying cooperation, and hold consultations on regional and international updates, including those of the Palestinian Cause. They equally tackled the impact of the Russia-Ukraine War on the supply chains of food and energy.

In a related context, Minister Shokry stressed the salience of reforming the operation system of international financing institutions in a way that makes them more responsive to the needs of developing countries and challenges ensued from global crises.
