CAIRO - 18 September 2023: An Egyptian navy supply ship arrived at Port Sudan carrying hundreds of tons of relief aid to the people in the war-torn Sudan as per the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, state’s news agency MENA reported on Monday.
The supplies, launched from Safaga port, were provided by Kuwait Red Crescent Society, the Egyptian Red Crescent, the Arab League, the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo.
The aid to Sudan included food, essential humanitarian relief materials and medical supplies and will be delivered to the afflicted and most needy areas in Sudan.
Sudanese officials, for their part, expressed gratitude for Egypt's efforts to support Sudan during its time of need, appreciating the Egyptian political leadership for its tireless efforts to help Sudan and the Sudanese people overcome all adversities facing them.
The aid comes while the war in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has entered its six month, killing thousands and displacing millions of Sudanese people amid deteriorated health conditions.
