CAIRO – 14 September 2023: Egypt’s National Dialogue held a closed, specialized session on Thursday regarding “The law of political parties, mergers, party alliances, and financial and administrative governance of parties”
“The closed and specialized sessions have great importance, as it includes number of experts who give more details regarding the discussed matter and aim mainly to give insights into the matters of disagreements among the dialogue’s participants and politicians.” Reda Farahat, Vice President of the Congress Party, said in televised statements.
He stressed that the National Dialogue created a state of harmony between the political parties and all of the dialogue participants.
Farahat affirmed that “there is a very high percentage of agreement, that may reach 70% between participants on different discussed matters.”
He noted that the first phase of the National Dialogues sessions has issued number of recommendations and presented them to President Abdel Fattah al Sisi.
However, other undetermined issues are to be discussed during the coming sessions for the dialogue, Farahat said.
The National Dialogue held Thursday a specialists' session, within the political axis, on political parties draft law; political parties' integration and coalition; and, financial and administrative governance of political parties.
Regarding the economic axis, two specialists' sessions were held Wednesday within the National Dialogue. One was on formalizing the informal sector and boosting indirect investment. The other was on enhancing the population characteristics, and diagnosing the status quo.
Also, earlier this week, a closed session titled "Price Hikes and Ways to Alleviate Citizens' Economic Burdens" kicked off Tuesday. The meeting's goal was articulating the recommendations and proposals put forward during public sessions, combining them together in a draft that will be submitted to the president of the republic.
