CAIRO – 14 September 2023: The National Dialogue released a statement on the specialists' session that had been held Wednesday on enhancing the population characteristics, and diagnosing the issue of overpopulation.
Participants tackled the suggestions put forward during the public session and the previous specialists' session. The suggestions were focused on boosting the role of female rural leaders, and enhancing healthcare and services pertinent to productive health.
They articulated such proposals into a draft that will be submitted to the National Dialogue's board that in turn will submit it to the president of the republic.
The National Dialogue submitted in August private investment recommendations that emanated from the public discussions within the economic axis and that had been drafted by committees consisting of specialists.
General Coordinator of the National Dialogue Diaa Rashwan stated earlier in August that the Recommendations and Proposals Committee was finalizing the articulation of the three proposals pertaining to the electoral system so they would be submitted to the president of the republic.
One of the proposals is keeping the current system allowing the election of half the members of both chambers through closed lists that divide the country into four districts. Another is amending the system so that all members would be elected through open lists dividing the country into 15 districts.
The third is amending the system so that 25 percent of members would be elected through closed lists, and 25 percent others would be elected through open lists.
Rashwan pointed out that the committee was also finalizing the articulation of the proposals on establishing an anti-discrimination commission, amending custodianship laws and cooperatives laws.
