CAIRO – 13 September 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the military, Wednesday to prepare a Mistral aircraft carrier to serve as a field hospital for the victims of Daniel storm that struck Libya.
Sisi directed the army to establish shelter camps in the western military zone for those affected by the tragedy.
President Sisi listened to a detailed explanation from one of the commanders of the Armed Forces about the immediate support and humanitarian relief aid offered to brothers in Libya.
The military commander said the Egyptian aid includes 50 ambulances and 50 mobile field hospital truck trailers and medical supplies.
The assistance shipment also includes 120 engineering equipment to contribute to remove debris following the floods that hit the country, he added.
The shipment has as well 100 containers with administrative needs at a load of 1,000 tons and dust tankers and equipment containers, he said.
President Sisi thanked the western military area for its efforts as it is the closest point to the Libyan border. He also directed the rapid completion of camps to help displaced Libyans who are now estimated at 30,000.
Sisi also ordered the rapid opening of roads and crossings to facilitate relief operations.
President Sisi said rescue forces should be well prepared to deal with any emergency circumstances, and to be equipped with all modern equipment that enables them to deal with these circumstances
Sisi offered his sincere condolences to the families of the Egyptian victims of Storm Daniel and directed the speedy return of the bodies of the victims and the utmost medical care to the injured in field hospitals.
