Egypt’s Cabinet denies collecting $1,000 from tourists visiting Egypt

CAIRO – 11 September 2023: The Cabinet Media Center has dismissed as groundless reports on collecting a sum of 1,000 dollars from foreign tourists visiting Egypt.

In a statement Monday, the center said no decision was taken in that respect, pointing out that no new entry fees were collected from foreign tourists.

The statement said the decision to collect above mentioned sum has nothing to do with tourist purposes but rather with legalizing the status of foreigners living illegally in Egypt.

The center appealed to media outlets and social media users to verify reports before publishing them in order to avoid confusion among the public opinion.

It called on citizens to contact (01155508688 - 01155508851) or website (rumors@idsc.net.eg) to make sure of such reports.
