CAIRO – 6 September 2023: The Public Prosecution has launched a probe into a building collapse in Cairo’s Hadayek El-Kobba neighborhood, which killed four and injured six others.
The prosecution ordered the formation of an engineering committee to investigate the site of the collapse and prepare a detailed report on the incident.
The four-floor building in Teraat Al-Gabal street collapsed early on Wednesday. Civil protection units, ambulances and police personnel rushed to the scene.
Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine El-Qabbaj ordered an LE 60,000 compensation for families of the victims who lost their lives in the collapse.
The minister also ordered providing required support to the families of the victims and directed the Egyptian Red Crescent teams to be available in the site to provide the needed care.
Hadayek El-Kobba neighborhood also saw a deadly building collapse in July, killing 13 people, including children.
