CAIRO – 4 September 2023: The Egyptian Red Crescent delivered 44,000 first aid medical services, and 8,700 psychological support services at the crossings of Qastal and Arkin located in Aswan governorate since the outbreak of the civil war in Sudan last April.

The figures were highlighted by Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine al-Qabaj who visited the Egyptian Red Crescent team at Qastal crossing Sunday. She added that the entity provided 1.25 million water bottles, food, personal care products, and communications services.

In a related context, 1,600 families received facilitated travel services and internal transfers from the crossings to bus and train stations.

The Egyptian Red Crescent launched on August 28 a caravan consisting of 25 tons of mattresses, blankets, and personal care products to Sudan, and that is funded by the Council of Arab Social Solidarity Ministers.

The aid was packed by volunteers at Egypt's Red Crescent, and would arrive to Port Sudan in a few days.

The Ministry of Social Solidarity, in charge of Egypt's Red Crescent, noted in a statement that the entity still provides logistic and medical support, as well as different types of aid at the urban crossings of Qastal and Argin. The number of beneficiaries of those services amounted to 250,000 individuals of different nationalities.
