CAIRO – 1 September 2023: A court in Lusaka decided on Friday to release five Egyptians detained in Zambia, said the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC).

 

Zambian authorities announced seizing the private plane Bombardier Global Express T7-WW that carried “dangerous goods” on August 14 and also detaining ten people, including six Egyptians.

 

Nason Banda, Director General of the Zambian Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), said the chartered plane flew from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, and landed at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka.

 

However, two days later, a well-informed source to Egyptian official news agency MENA that the seized plane is not Egyptian.
