Government allocates LE 71.4 B in investments for Upper Egypt

CAIRO – 1 September 2023: The Egyptian government has allocated LE 71.4 billion in investments in the FY2023/2024 for the development of the governorates of Upper Egypt.

 

The state treasury’s share of this money reached LE 31.3 billion, with 44% of these investments.

 

The projects include establishing and paving vital roads, road networks, besides completing the construction of the Holy Family Road. It also will establish 400 villages in desert, implement the National Program for Social Housing in Assiut, and developing slums in the New Valley Governorate.

 

Additionally, the government aims to implement several development projects in the governorates of Central Upper Egypt during the fiscal year 2024/23. It includes constructing and paving an axis linking Al-Tinida in Dakhla and Fallout in Assiut with a length of 300 km, besides completing the construction and paving of an axis linking Farafra/Dayrut/Assiut with a length of 285 km.
