MOSCOW, Aug 23 (MENA) - Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was aboard a plane that crashed north of Moscow on Wednesday, killing all 10 people on board, according to Russia’s civil aviation agency.

The crash immediately raised suspicions since the fate of the founder of the Wagner private military company has been the subject of intense speculation ever since he mounted the mutiny.

Russia’s Federal Agency for Air Transport has launched an investigation into the crash of the Embraer plane in the Tver Region on Wednesday, TASS reported.

"An investigation into the Embraer plane crash that occurred in the Tver Region this evening has been launched," the agency noted.

The Embraer business jet crashed in the Tver Region near the settlement of Kuzhenkino.

The plane was en route from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport to St. Petersburg.
