CAIRO – 21 August 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry made a phone call to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in the framework of following up on the updates of bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Shokry and Blinken asserted the importance of reinforcing joint strategic partnership between the two countries by bolstering developmental, economic and military cooperation.
On another level, the two ministers discussed the circumstances in Sudan, Libya, and Niger, as well as the outcomes of the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee on Syria, and the developments on the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.
In that context, Shokry and Blinken stressed their eagerness for continuing coordination and consultation in the coming period to follow up on cooperation between the two countries and joint work in the face of increasing challenges in the region.
