CAIRO – 18 August 2023: Egypt’s Cairo Airport Company and Singapore’s Changi Airports International (CAI) have signed two MoUs to help develop Cairo International Airport, the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a statement on Thursday.
The MoUs, signed in Singapore in the presence of Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmi, CAI will provide feasibility studies for the design, operation, management and marketing of the logistics village, which is set to be located around the airport.
The logistics city will contribute to increasing the air cargo capacity at the Cairo-based airport.
As per the MoUs signed, the Singaporean company will also provide effective solutions to develop Cairo International Airport and improve the quality of services provided to passengers.
Such effort aims at ensuring comfortable and luxurious travel experience for passengers in a manner befitting the pivotal position enjoyed by Cairo International Airport regionally and globally.
The upgrade of Cairo International Airport is part of a promising plan adopted by the ministry to modernize all Egyptian airports' services and introduce the latest technologies that promote the level of services offered to passengers, the ministry said.
Cairo International Airport is one of the busiest airports in Africa, serving millions of passengers annually, added the statement.
The collaboration between Cairo Airport Company and Changi Airports International is expected to bring significant benefits to both parties, said the minister.
Helmi voiced confidence over the ability of the Singaporean company to work out high-level solutions for the upgrade of Cairo International Airport and turn Egypt to a hub for the passengers and commodities movement.
Cairo International Airport will benefit from the expertise and knowledge of one of the world’s best airport management companies, enabling it to provide passengers with a seamless travel experience, from check-in to boarding, he added.
