CAIRO – 17 August 2023: Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a phone number and an email to receive the inquiries of citizens living abroad about a new initiative to settle their conscription positions.
The ministry will receive the expats’ inquiries via this email:
info@tagneedinit.gov.eg
or via this phone number: (+201275638989).
The initiative, which started on 14 August and extends for 30 days, aims to help Egyptian men living abroad and have been qualified for compulsory military service to permanently settle their conscription positions for a fee paid in foreign currency.
The initiative is set to expire on 13 September. Expats can register their data via this website: https://www.tagneedinit.gov.eg/HomePage.html.
In a statement late in July, the Foreign Ministry said the expats will be able to settle their conscription position by paying fees worth $5,000 or 5,000 euros.
Registration is open for male expats within the age group of 19-30 and also for those over the age of 30 who still need to settle their conscription position.
Expats who qualify for military service have to join the initiative in order to have their passports renewed after expiry, the ministry said last month.
Documents required for registration include photocopies of the national identity card and passport.
The fees will be deposited in Banque Misr, Abu Dhabi Branch, the ministry said, providing the following steps for citizens to complete the process:
