Egypt's National Dialogue drafts proposals on public debt, state budget

CAIRO – 16 August 2023: The National Dialogue released Wednesday a statement on the content of the closed session that took place Tuesday to draft recommendations and proposals pertaining to the public debt and state budget so they would be submitted to the board, then the president of the republic.

Those were put forward during the public discussions held within the economic axis. Participants in the closed session are specialists and officials who adopt different viewpoints, ensuring balance is achieved.

The topics were relevant to both the legislative and executive aspects. They included comprehensiveness of the budget, financial reform, rationalization of public expenditure, bolstering revenues, public debt management, formalization of the informal sector, incentivizing the private sector, and governance of the public budget.
