CAIRO – 13 August 2023: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has extended the mandate of Admiral Osama Mounir Mohamed Rabie as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and Managing Director of the Board of Directors for a year, according to a statement issued by the SCA on Sunday.

The one-year period started on August 12, 2023, the statement added.

In 2022, President Sisi extended the tenure of Rabie as chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) for a year as of August 12, 2022, the Official Gazette has reported.

Rabie assumed the position of the SCA chairperson in August 2019 as a successor to former Chairperson Mohab Mamish, who became an advisor to the president for seaports.
