Weather in Egypt’s northern coast this week: good news, bad news

CAIRO – 11 August 2023: If you are planning a holiday to the northern coast’s cities, including Alexandria and Alamein, this week we have good news and bad news for you about weather.

First, the good news is that the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) is expecting further relief from hot weather in the northern coast down until Greater Cairo over the coming week.

However, the EMA also expects high waves in the northern coast this weekend, with waves expected to rise by up to 2.5 meters.

While weather will improve in northern Egypt, reaching 33-34 for the highs in Cairo, direct exposure to sun remains inadvisable as it makes weather feel much hotter.

Average apparent temperatures based on the EMA expectations until Tuesday:

- Cairo and Lower Egypt – Highs: 36

- Northern coasts – Highs: 33

- South Sinai – Highs: 42

- Northern Upper Egypt – Highs: 38

- Southern Upper Egypt – Highs: 43
