CAIRO – 4 August 2023: The civil aviation authority in western Luxor announced on Friday halting hot air balloon rides due to bad weather and strong winds to ensure safety of tourists.
The decision to suspend the balloon rides aims to prevent them from deviating from their specified path, said Head of the Egyptian Federation of Hot Air Ballooning Companies in Luxor Ahmed Aboud.
Hot air balloon rides over the ancient wonders of Luxor are popular for tourists as they get a chance to explore the city’s spectacular landscape and famous landmarks.
Dozens of hot air balloon rides take place in Luxor on a daily basis carrying hundreds of tourists of different nationalities.
Today’s winds come while Egypt has experienced extremely hot weather, especially in southern Upper Egypt, home of Luxor and Aswan.
