CAIRO – 4 August 2023: Egypt received Presidency of the 20th session of the Ministerial Council for the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PERSGA) from Djibouti in the Egyptian city of Hurghada, on Thursday.
Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad received the presidency of PERSGA from her Djibouti counterpart Mohamed Abdelkader Moussa, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Environment.
Fouad highlighted Egypt’s role during its previous presidency of the Council in its 16th session in 2015, when Egypt promoted joint cooperation at the regional level among the Arab member states to preserve the environment and biological diversity.
She added that Egypt had enhanced the authority’s efforts in raising environmental awareness for all groups, especially youth and children, and to involve the private sector and civil society in preserving the environment of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Fouad said that Egypt will continue its efforts to combat climate change and preserve biodiversity.
