Draft law submitted to Egypt's Parliament support 'Differently Abled' Fund

CAIRO - 31 July 2023: During the last session, the Egyptian House of Representatives approved several draft laws, the most prominent of which was a draft law submitted by Representative Ahmed Saad El-Din (Senior Deputy of Parliament) and (60) deputies to support the Differently Abled Fund by one billion Egyptian pounds.
 
The draft law aimed to provide adequate support for financing the “Differently Abled” fund to enhance social, economic and other aspects of protection for persons with disabilities. The law also aims to guarantee their health, economic, social and other rights, provide them with job opportunities, and integrate them into society.
 
Article 1 of the draft law stipulates the funds to be transfered from the balances of the accounts of the following entities:
 
- Suez Canal Authority: An amount of one hundred million pounds.
 
- New Urban Communities Authority: An amount of two hundred million pounds.
 
- Long Live Egypt Fund: An amount of one hundred million pounds.
 
- Fund for honoring martyrs, victims, missing persons, and those injured in war, terrorist and security operations, and their families: An amount of one hundred million pounds.
 
- The National Service Projects Authority: An amount of five hundred million pounds.
 
- All of this is an exception to the provisions of the following laws and decisions:
 
- Law No. (30) of 1975 regulating the Suez Canal Authority.
 
- Law No. (59) of 1979 regarding the establishment of new urban communities.
 
- Law No. (84) of 2015 establishing the Long Live Egypt Fund.
 
- Law of the Fund for Honoring the Martyrs, Victims, Missing Persons, and Injured of War, Terrorist and Security Operations and Their Families, promulgated by Law No. (16) of 2018.
 
- Presidential Decree No. 32 of 1979 establishing the National Service Projects Authority.
