Egypt’s Chief of Armed Forces meets with CENTCOM commander

CAIRO – 30 July 2023: Egyptian Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Osama Askar, met with commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) Lieutenant General Michael Corella and his accompanying delegation in Cairo, said the Egyptian Armed Forces in a statement.

Both sides discussed a number of issues of common concern in light of the partnership and military cooperation between the Egyptian and American armed forces, the statement added.

The Egyptian Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces praised the relations between the armed forces of both countries, stressing the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces to enhance prospects for joint cooperation in various military and security fields, the statement said.

Also, the commander of the US Central Command praised the pivotal role played by the Egyptian state in achieving security and stability in the region, expressing his country's keenness to support strategic partnership relations and continuous coordination between the two sides in many fields.

The meeting was attended by a number of leaders of the Egyptian and US armed forces, and the US Chargé d'Affairs in Cairo.
