CAIRO - 26 July 2023: Members of Sudan’s Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) coalition have asserted that the Sudanese crisis can only be resolved by the Sudanese people’s efforts.
During a press conference on Tuesday following their meeting in Cairo, the coalition members said all international and regional efforts meant to solve the Sudanese crisis have failed due to their bias, lack of impartiality, and preference for one party over another.
They also stressed their solidarity with the army, which is the representative of the sovereignty of Sudan and the only party capable of restoring the country to safety.
Head of Sudan’s Democratic Bloc and Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Unionist Party Jaafar Al-Sadiq Muhammad Al-Mirghani said the current conditions in Sudan have reached a very difficult stage at the political, economic, social and environmental levels.
Mirghani called for unifying the domestic Sudanese front by entering into serious discussions that will take the country from the condition of statelessness to that of a stable and secure state.
He demanded an immediate and complete ceasefire in addition to the formation of a caretaker government that should run the country in such difficult conditions.
He stressed that all international and regional efforts should recognize the full sovereignty of his country, consider the conflict an internal matter, and help prevent the disintegration of Sudan.
Head of Sudan’s National Movement Forces Al-Tijani Al-Sisi said the FFC members held a workshop in Cairo a few months ago during which they discussed issues of their homeland and agreed on a roadmap and a document to save the country.
The Sudanese official expressed thanks to Egypt and its government for hosting the Sudanese who fled war in their home country. He also thanked Chad for receiving those displaced from the Darfur region.
The main objective of the initiative is to create a national framework for the Sudanese political powers to hold a transparent national dialogue, he added.
The official noted that all political powers in Sudan wish to end the current war.
Meanwhile, FFC member Mohamed Abdul Kareem called for abandoning neutrality in the ongoing war in Sudan, stressing that "there is no neutrality in this war. Everyone should stand with the Armed Forces".
He also urged all parties to condemn the "grave violations" committed by the Rapid Support Forces.
Abdul Kareem called for forming a competent government and unifying all political powers in the country.
The FFC was formed in 2019 following the 2018 civilian protests and subsequent uprising. It consists of many political and rebel factions.
