CAIRO – 25 July 2023: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Tuesday Egypt's solidarity with Algeria over human losses incurred by wildfires, extending condolences to the Algerian government and people, and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The numbers of deaths and injuries among civilians are 15 and 24, respectively, while those of soldiers involved in putting the flame under control are 10 and 25. According to The Daily Mail, 1,500 have been evacuated and 7,500 soldiers have been deployed to contain the situation.
Egypt had also condoled with Algeria last week following a bus-car collision that killed 34 and injured 12 on Wednesday.
