Scorching heatwave to linger across much of Egypt till end of July

CAIRO - 22 July 2023: A scorching heatwave that has recently brought the feels-like temperatures across much of Egypt to over 40 degrees Celsius will continue till the end of July, Manar Ghanem, member of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), said on Saturday.

She attributed the rise in feels-like temperatures to elevated levels of humidity, advising citizens to avoid exposure of sun rays from 12 to 4:00 p.m., to wear light cotton clothing and to drink plenty of water and juices.

Ghanam said the heatwave is caused due to an air mass coming from the Mediterranean.
