Building collapses in Cairo; one person dead

CAIRO – 18 July 2023:  A three-story residential building in Cairo's El Khalifa neighborhood collapsed on Tuesday, as one woman has been found dead.

Civil protection forces managed to pull a person out from under the rubble. The survivor was moved to hospital for receiving the necessary care.

Search is under way for more survivors who could be trapped under the rubble.

Security forces formed a cordon around the collapsed building to facilitate the work of rescue teams and ensure the safety of other residents in the neighborhood.
