CAIRO - 16 July 2023: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi posed for a photo op with leaders partaking in the Fifth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (5th MYCM) of the African Union (AU) that kicked off Sunday.
The MYCM was conceptualized in 2017 as the principal forum for the AU and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) to align their work and coordinate the implementation of the continental integration agenda, replacing the June/ July summits.
Sisi arrived at the venue of the Fifth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (5th MYCM) of the African Union, Regional Economic Communities, Regional Mechanisms and Member States.
The meeting will be held under the slogan of "Acceleration of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Implementation."
During the meeting, President Sisi will deliver a speech presenting Egypt's ambitious two-year roadmap as the current chair of the Steering Committee of the African Development Agency (NEPAD).
President Sisi will also deliver a second speech, which he will deliver as the current president of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27).
President Sisi will review Egypt's relentless efforts to confront the impact of climate change on the African countries.
President Sisi is also expected to hold talks with his Kenyan counterpart President William Ruto to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two sisterly countries on matters of common African concern, and enhancing continental integration.
