Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi leaves a message to Kenyan President Ruto in the visitor's book - Egyptian Presidency
CAIRO – 16 July 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has left a message to Kenyan President William Ruto and the brotherly Kenyan people in the visitor’s book during his current visit to Nairobi.
“I am pleased to extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to His Excellency President William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya, for his kind hospitality and warm welcome,” Sisi wrote in the message.
“I express my happiness to be in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, wishing my brother, His Excellency President Ruto, and the brotherly people of Kenya, further prosperity and progress,” he added.
Sisi arrived in Nairobi today to attend the fifth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union, Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms on Sunday.
During the meeting, which will see the participation of the African heads of state and governments, Sisi is set to deliver a speech to present Egypt’s plan in light of its presidency of the steering committee of the New Partnership for Africa's Development Agency (NEPAD) over the next two years.
The president will also deliver a speech in his capacity as the president of the 2022 UN Climate Conference (COP27) before the environment and climate change session.
In his speech, Sisi will review the Egyptian efforts in the confrontation of the effects of climate change on the African countries.
This comes in light of Egypt's continuous efforts to encourage support and financing from developed countries and international financing institutions to the African countries most affected by the repercussions of climate change.
Meanwhile, Sisi will discuss with the leaders and heads of governments the progress achieved in the commercial integration work program for the African countries and means to enhance this integration.
In this regard, Sisi will discuss the steps related to enhancing free movement, the unified African passport and ways to link the financial markets and infrastructure of the countries across the continent.
According to an AU statement, the participants at the meeting will discuss the establishment of a common African market to boost trade, agriculture, business and exchange of skills in the continent.
The participants will also discuss coordination of efforts between the AU, the Regional Economic Communities and the member states at the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to accelerate efforts of commercial integration.
