Here’s how Egypt has advanced relations with int’l organizations since 2013

CAIRO - 10 July 2023: In 10 years since the ouster of the Muslim Brotherhood rule, Egypt has improved its cooperation with international organizations like never before.

The Egyptian National Committee for Education, Culture and Science has organized many programs, projects, training courses and workshops in cooperation with UNESCO, ALECSO, and ISESCO in a way that achieves the sustainable development goals of Egypt Vision 2030.

The first half of 2023 witnessed many events in which the Egypt participated, including: 

The 119th regular session of the Executive Council of ALECSO 

216th session of the Executive Council of UNESCO

Hosting of the third session of the Arab Programing Week

The Egyptian National Committee for UNESCO participated in the celebration of the revival of the path of the Holy Family entering the land of Egypt.

In cooperation with ALECSO, a workshop on "smart and sustainable cities" was organized.

Holding the national training course on "Strategic Foresight for Decision-Making" in cooperation with ISESCO

Dr. Manal Fawzi, Chairman of the Man and Biosphere (MAB) Committee of the National Committee was selected among among 12 experts of the International Advisory Committee for the International MAP Program of UNESCO, starting from the first of January 2023 for a term of four years.

Dr. Imad Khalil, Professor of Marine Archeology at the Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, was selected to be the head of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Board of UNESCO.

Dr. Massad Attia Abdel-Wahhab, Professor, Department of Food Toxins and Pollutants, National Research Center, won the 2023 UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize in Life Sciences for the year 2022.

In cooperation with ISESCO, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Faculty of Archeology at Cairo University, and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) organized a training course entitled "Training Personnel in Project Management and Feasibility Study in the Field of Antiquities Restoration."

Cairo was chosen as the capital of Islamic culture in the Islamic world for the year 2022.

Egypt won first place in the Arab Youth Award for the year 2022.

The city of Fayoum joined the UNESCO Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) for the year 2022.The city of Damietta won the UNESCO Award for Learning Cities In 2021.

The city of Aswan won the UNESCO International Network of Learning Cities "GNLC" award in 2019. 

Giza Governorate, among 16 cities worldwide, won the UNESCO Learning Cities Award in 2017.

Ain Shams University won the Confucius Award for Literacy for the year 2021.

Egypt won the chair of the International Sub-Committee for Africa and the Islands of the Neighboring Countries for Marine Sciences at UNESCO until the end of 2021. 

Egypt won for the second time in a row the seat of the Vice-President representing the Arab Group of UNESCO in the Committee of Intergovernmental Experts concerned with studying the preliminary draft of the global convention.

Egypt won a seat in Executive Council of UNESCO.
