CAIRO – 8 July 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the great electoral victory achieved by the ruling party in the parliamentary elections last June.
In a phone call with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Sisi stressed that the elections' results have confirmed the confidence of the Greek voter in the prime minister and his policies, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement on Saturday.
Sisi also expressed appreciation for the strong cooperation relations between Egypt and Greece, stressing keenness to continue strengthening these ties at the bilateral level and within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Cyprus.
For his part, Mitsotakis thanked Sisi and stressed the strong and distinct relations between Egypt and Greece.
The Greek premier also expressed his country's mutual keenness to enhance joint cooperation with Egypt at various levels and continue intensive consultations on issues of mutual concern.
Such issues especially include developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the repercussions of the current crises in the economy, food and energy worldwide, Mitsotakis affirmed.
Mitsotakis's conservative New Democracy party won the parliamentary election last month after obtaining more than 40 percent of the vote.
Egypt and Greece share strong bilateral relations, especially in the political and economic fields, and embark on joint development projects at the bilateral level and also at the trilateral level with Cyprus.
