Huge fire in Edfu market spreads to dozens of shops, houses

CAIRO – 19 July 2017: A huge fire erupted early morning on Wednesday in the market of Edfu town in Aswan governorate. Twenty fire fighting vehicles headed to the location and firefighters are still trying to contain the fire.

Helicopters have also been deployed to extinguish the fire, which spread to dozens of shops and four residential blocks which were evacuated. The Egyptian Armed Forces have also contributed in containing the fire, as MENA reported.

Aswan Governor formed an ad hoc committee to follow-up with the developments of the situation and keeping record of the damages and losses. So far, there are no human losses.
