President Sisi meets the CEO of Alstom Group in Paris

CAIRO – 21 June 2023:  Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received at his residence in the French capital, Paris, Chairman and CEO of Alstom Group, Henri Poupart-Lafarge.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ahmad Fahmy, said the meeting focused on joint cooperation with the French Alstom Group in the transport sector.

The President lauded the constructive cooperation with the French company, which comes within the framework of the outstanding bilateral relations between Egypt and France.

President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s commitment to increasing the rates of the localization of the industry and advanced technology in joint activities with the world’s leading companies, while placing interest on establishing centers for training Egyptian experts to benefit from foreign expertise in the transfer of knowledge and building cadres. The President commended Alstom’s efforts in this regard.

Chairman and CEO of Alstom Group, Poupart-Lafarge confirmed his company’s intention to expand the size and scope of its business in Egypt, notably in light of the promising investment opportunities offered in the Egyptian transport sector, which is considered a gateway to boost its investments in the Arab and African regions. This is in addition to capitalizing on the size of the mega projects which are currently being implemented in Egypt and which are characterized by efficiency and speed.

The meeting reviewed aspects of the ongoing cooperation between the ministry of transport and the French company, notably with regard to the National Authority for Tunnels and the Egyptian National Railways. The discussions also tackled future projects, the details of which are currently being studies by the two sides.
