Egypt’s defense minister, chairman of EU Military Committee discusses security developments

CAIRO - 19 June 2023: Regional and international developments were discussed by Minister of Defense Mohamed Zaki and Robert  Brieger, Chairman of the Military Committee of the European Union on Monday.

Brieger and his delegation are on an official visit to Egypt for several days. 

They also discussed  efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, as well as ways to strengthen relations in the fields of security and defense.

Zaki expressed appreciation of friendly relations and military cooperation with the Military Committee of the European Union. He highlighted similar visions on issues of common interest, which contributes to supporting security and stability in the area.

For his part, Brieger underscored enhancing prospects for cooperation and exchanging experiences in the fields of security and defense. He also praised Egypt's efforts in addressing the arising issues on the regional and international levels, given that it represents a major and active force in the Middle East.

The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and a number of leaders of the Armed Forces.
