President Sisi receives Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki

CAIRO – 19 June 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Monday Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed Zaki, Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmi said.

On Sunday, Minister of Defense held a meeting with High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell and his accompanying delegation at the premises of the Ministry of Defense.

Borrell is on an official several days' visit to Egypt.

The meeting took up a set of topics of mutual concern in the light of the current regional and international developments and their impacts on security and stability in the Middle East.

Also, the meeting tackled ways of bolstering military cooperation and relations between Egypt's Armed Forces and the EU Defense Agency.

Zaki commended the friendship relations between the Armed Forces and the EU Defense Agency, pointing out to the significance of coordinating efforts alongside promoting future military cooperation.

Meanwhile, Borrell lauded Egypt's effective role regionally and globally with regards to maintaining security in the Middle East.

He, also, hailed Egypt's wise vision towards several issues of interest.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Osama Askar as well a host of Armed Forces leaderships and members of the EU Defense Agency
