Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed Al Tayeb invited to visit Iraq

CAIRO – 12 June 2023: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani renewed his invitation to the Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al Tayeb to visit Iraq, the Sheikhdom said in a statement.

The invitation was offered during a meeting between the two sides on Monday at Al Azhar Sheikhdom in Cairo where Al Sudani is on an official visit with a high-ranking Iraqi delegation.

“We renew our invitation to your Eminence to visit your country, Iraq, and we look forward to this visit and await it with great eagerness,” Al Sudani said.

The Sheikh of Al-Azhar affirmed his welcome to visit Iraq and to communicate with all components of the Iraqi people.

The meeting tackled ways to strengthen relations between Iraq and the Foundation. Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and an official invitation to the Sheikh of Al-Azhar to visit Iraq.

The Grand Imam welcomed the Prime Minister and the Iraqi delegation, wishing Iraq to overcome its ordeal. He also said that Al Azhar institution pays more attention to Iraq students studying at Al Azhar University.
