CAIRO – 11 June 2023: Egypt condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a hotel in southern Mogadishu, which resulted in a number of victims and injuries, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on Sunday.

 

Egypt expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of Somalia, and to the families of the victims of this disgraceful attack, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured, the statement read.

 

Egypt also affirmed its solidarity and full support for Somalia in confronting all forms of extremism and terrorism, calling for the concerted efforts of the international community to confront terrorism and dry up its sources.

 

An attack claimed by Al Shabab movement targeted a restaurant at the Pearl Beach hotel in Mogadishu, claiming the lives of nine people (six civilians and three police personnel) and injuring 20 others on Friday, Reuters reported.
