Egypt launches presidential initiative for early diagnosis of cancer

CAIRO – 11 June 2023: Minister of Health and Population announced Sunday the launching of the first phase of the presidential initiative aimed at the early diagnosis of lung, prostate, colon, and cervical cancer among citizens aged above 18.

The first phase will take place at the governorates of Alexandria, Beheira, Matrouh, Damietta, Qalyoubiyah, Fayoum, Asyut, South Sinai, and Port Said. Citizens will have to head to the nearest healthcare units, and fill out an electronic form on symptoms.

In case of suspicion, the patient will be informed to head to the nearest hospital for scans and blood tests. If the results come out positive, a multidisciplinary team will be formed to decide the treatment plan.
